PHOTOS – Compare Kilifi’s New Hospital vs The Despicable Eyesore Murang’a Has Built

The final stage few weeks, governors nationwide have been competitive to see WHO will come up with Covid-19 isolation and treatment facilities fastest.

Most of totally this has been Puerto Rico for the cameras, simply some governors have tight tracked existing projects scarce in case they are needful sooner.

Machakos governor Alfred Mutua unsealed and highly publicized a makeshift bivouac hospital at the Machakos stadium. Considerably, most of it was just ill armored beds merely the headlines are what mattered.

Zero word on whether information technology has ever been used for the intended purpose, but going with the few number of infections in the res publica, I doubt.

Mutua would then go same to meet John Major flack when photos of his new office surfaced. The imposing structure is modeled after the White Put up, but looks to a greater extent like Nairobi State Family.

I thought it was a great investment funds connected his part, considering IT is expected to remain standing for probably hundreds of years. And as wel going with the eyesores other governors have been edifice for more money, in the bring up of an 'office'. And this is before counting those who lease their offices from commercial buildings at unconscionable prices.

Anyway, noncurrent to Covid.

Murang'a governor Mwangi Washington Iria also seeking his time in the limelight, announced that he would build an ICU whole at the main county hospital in a thing of days.

It became his passion project, and he was on the ground on most years superintendence works.

After 19 days, the 35-bed  'ICU' facility was unveiled.

I put ICU in quotes because it is not equipped to provide intensive care for very sick patients.

From pictures making their way online, the only thing we can spot is beds with bedside monitors. These are wont to display the patient's vital signs.

Thither is also what looks ilk a couple of ventilators in the whole facility, and some resuscitating bags.

Simply put, this facility cannot cater for 35 ICU patients as publicized. A I ICU bed fully armed costs upwards of Sh10 million.

But that's not the period. Machines and equipment can always be added later as the money becomes available.

What I'm most concerned about is the building itself. It is one of the ugliest newly constructed buildings I've seen in a age.

It is a thwart between a high school dormitory and a market.

From the outside it looks more of a Bos taurus slaughter house or a public bath house, or a large scale chicken shed. At that place is nothing aesthetically pleasing close to it.

I would in person throw to be heavily smashed to approve such a project.

Mwangi wa Iria could have gotten a pass, had Kilifi Regulator Amason Kingi not unveiled his 'Covid' facility in his county.

Sure, the Kilifi one looks the like it had been in the works long before the general, but the timing of the found just exposed Wa Iria's ineptness.

The edifice has the hallmarks of a stylish infirmary. A hospital that will stand for years and still cost desirable to look at decades from now. Fated with the right equipment, either of these facilities can treat an ICU patient. Only there is a strong case to bulldoze one of them.

This is not the first time we're talking about the miss of a plan language in Kenya's institutions.

3 years ago we compared the freak Kenyatta University built in the name of a hospital, to a infirmary built aside the University of Ghana. The difference was day and night.

Receive a look.

Kenyatta University Hospital

University of Ghana Medical Centre

We're larboard speculative whether we have No capable architects and landscapers in Kenya.

Or maybe our governors and decision makers are then inept they can't bring themselves to fles anything for prosperity.

Probably the only exception being AElfred Mutua and Wyclif Oparanya.
